The Masterplan captures the vision Orbus has of building a self-sustainable project to provide for, care for, love and nurture these beautiful African children who have lost their natural providers, their parents.
The Ngumbe Orphan Home and School Project
The Ngumbe Orphan Boarding School
Ngumbe, Blantyre, Malawi.
A dedicated group of Malawians and Australians have started the process of attempting to establish a boarding school for 50 orphaned children, a day-school for 100 children, and a skills training workshop (for the older children), in Blantyre, Malawi.
A 6.202 Ha plot of fertile land has been purchased by Orbus in Ngumbe, Blantyre. Construction is slow but it is hoped that a workable project may be completed soon. God Willing.
The good size of this plot, and its fertile nature, should enable Orbus to fully implement its agricultural program. This will entail Orbus: growing food for its own consumption; for the commercial sale of excess produce; and as part of the Vocational Training Centre for training the older children in agricultural practices.
Orbus' aim with this project is to create long-term, sustainable improvements in and for this community. Rather than achieving this through short-term hand-outs, Orbus intends developing a project which will result in lasting, tangible differences for these children and their community, with each child graduating from Orbus trained in a practical, useful skill.
Who are the children Orbus are building this home for? Well, over the past few years, the Namatete, Blantyre congregation of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) have established a volunteer program of teaching and feeding orphaned children in their neighbourhood. This initiative now attracts many children every Saturday.
It is Orbus' hope and initial goal to do whatever we can to offer as many of these children as we can, a safe, loving, nurturing home and school where they can be protected, loved, cared for and trained, all on a foundation of love for God and for fellow humans.
